India: 1952-54

         Then, Sardar Panikkar arrived as Ambassador to Egypt. Shortly afterwards, I was transferred to the Ministry of External Affairs as Deputy Secretary to deal again with the affairs of Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and the NEF. Five years had passed since independence. The conflagration of refugees had more or less subsided, though their problems of settlement were not resolved. Prime Minister Nehru was in power.
